Keyboard Power improves the way menus and dialog boxes work. It consists of Keyboard Menus, Keyboard Dialogs and Menu Activation.
 
Keyboard Menus
Keyboard Menus lets you choose menus from the keyboard, instead of using the mouse. Every menu name and menu item displays with one letter underlined. To select a menu or menu item, hold down the Control and Shift key while typing the underlined letter. The letter associated with the Apple menu is A, so the default way to drop the Apple menu is Control-Shift-A.
If you want to use another key instead of Shift, select it under CONTROL KEY + modifier(s) in the control panel. You can select more than one modifier.
Once you have dropped a menu, you can continue to navigate using the underlined letters, or you can use the up, down, right and left arrow keys to move between and within the menus.
Keyboard Dialogs
Keyboard Dialogs allows you to choose all the items in a standard dialog box the same way as Keyboard Menus. Keyboard Dialogs also works in control panels. For example, if you type Control-Shift-N in the panel shown above, the Normal radio button is selected.
Keyboard Dialogs lets you cancel dialog boxes by pressing the Escape key or the Command-period key combination. Keyboard Dialogs uses the same modifier keys as Keyboard Menus.
Check “Select item on keypress” if you want action as soon as you type the key combination. Otherwise, you must hit Enter or Return whenever you select a menu item.
If the item is at the beginning of a multi-level menu, the new level will open. You can continue to key through levels until you reach a final item. When you select a final item, the selected action will be performed. Sometimes in a long menu, you have to scroll through to see its entire contents. You must scroll the menu until you can see an item before you can select it with Keyboard Menus. Use the up or down arrows on the keyboard to scroll.
Menu Activation
Menu Activation lets you modify how menus work when you use the mouse.
1. If you want the usual menu action, select Normal.
2. If you want the menus to drop whenever the cursor passes over them, select Auto-Drop.
3. If you want the menus to drop when you click on them and stay down when you release, select Click-Drop.
You can turn off Keyboard Power and keep this section of the program from loading. To do this, set the slide switch to the Off position. If you ever want to turn Keyboard Power back on again, set the slider switch to On and restart your computer.
